During our trip to Japan this year I found out that the Hilma af Klint exhibit would be in Tokyo right when we were there.
I can't even put into words my amazement at being able to see this exhibit. It was even better in person than I could have imagined and just looking at my photos from March makes me breathless. I was awed at how powerful her art is in person and I had no idea that her main works were so enormous until seeing them in the gallery.

The group of 10 paintings in this room was even more amazing in that she painted the series in only 3 months at the end of 1907. Incredible, right!? They are absolutely stunning in person and they literally make you gasp to see them in person.

I also didn't realize how many pieces were in this exhibition. I thought her large works were the grand finale but I was shocked that there were many more rooms after them. I hadn't allowed enough time so they didn't get the attention they deserved. I could have spent hours just being in the rooms with the art and feeling how amazing each piece was. She was so far ahead of her time and it saddens me to know that her work was hidden for so long and she never got the accolades she deserved while she was alive.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a peek into her amazing art. You can see more images on my Instagram post
