I love starting new projects and especially early in the year when everything feels new and fresh. This year was no exception. I have done the #100dayproject before and it is always a fun and interesting challenge and I always learn something new about myself and about my topic.
If you haven't heard, it is something you do every day for 100 days. It is a fun worldwide group project and people join however they want and post their attempts daily. This year I decided to do #100daysofcolor and did 4" x 4" squares of different color schemes in different mediums. I tried to keep it simple and easy to help my chances at finishing and not get too overwhelmed.

Alas, I did not finish but I got 20% into it before it became too much to do. I knew that might be the outcome, especially because I knew we had a big vacation in the midst of it. I was hopeful that I could do my colors while we were out and about but I knew it was a small chance because when we travel, we travel hard. I published seventeen before we left and then finished a couple more on the Shikansen bullet train from Tokyo to Osaka. That was the end of my project for the year because I got sick on the plane home and then got distracted when we got home and I just never got back to it.

But with all that going on, I am glad I started and it is interesting to think back on my projects towards the end of the year. I had favorites and ones I hated and each one taught me a little bit in some way.
I adore muted colors and usually go for dark and moody vibes so it was no surprise to see those in my output. It was also interesting that some of my favorites were the bright cheerful ones. Also looking back I find it interesting that I didn't get much into the blues and greens which I usually love when I am making color schemes. Maybe I would have gotten there if I had continued my journey.

I tend to be very hard on myself and would normally beat myself up for not completing but I am proud that I was able to start and do anything at all while setting a grueling pace in our trip. So my personal answers to the above questions are both no. I feel like a winner and for me, it is always fun to try an ambitious project. I don't know what next year will hold or if I will try again but that is a question for future me. Maybe I will work on finishing 80 tiles or maybe I will go in a different direction. Who knows?

What experiences have you had with the 100 Day Project? Have you tried it or maybe you just like watching other people dig deeply into 100 things? Or maybe you have never heard of it and want to look into it someday. I'd love to hear your take so please reply below or on my Instagram post.
