Here's a photo from my studio. The top of my worktable, as usual, is messy with multiple projects and thoughts and pieces of inspiration. But today it's a little more than usual. My cabinet above me, which has been solid for over 20+ years, started to lean away from the wall. You can imagine how I have been worried that it would crash down on my very expensive glass topper in the middle of the night, or worse; that it would hurt one of my kitties.
So everything inside is now downstairs while we work to fix it. Living near the beach means ocean breezes and more humidity and part of the cabinet that was particle-board finally gave up and we replaced it with wood. Hopefully it will last as long as I need it to now. But of course there's the chore of putting things back up (slowly to make sure it's safe).
If that wasn't enough commotion, this was on top of some plumbing repairs that resulted in lots of water everywhere and waterlogged things under the sink to be tossed. (When it "rains", it pours!)
Also as I have alluded to in previous notes, there were big things happening at work (my full-time job). For now, my job is safe but a second large re-org in one year is causing a lot of upheaval, stress and extra everything. Big sighs all around and I am sending so much love out to the many people who were part of the Reduction in Force (RIF) and are now entering the market; some after many years.
So I am choosing to look at all of these issues and changes as an indicator of movement and a sign of things evolving. My most recent saying is that "I am ready for positive changes" and I am glad for a sturdier cabinet mount, a focus on home repairs, and a chance for different processes at work.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks after all these maintenance tasks, I can get back on track and make more art and return focus to the things I love.
